Master Barista Certification

After two years of planning, industry conversations and countless hours of development, we’re proud to introduce Master Barista Certification (MBC) to the specialty coffee world.

This is something we have been building from the ground up — not just another course, but an independent certification process aimed at professional baristas of the highest level.

Our aim is to create a new standard of excellence, establishing a new level of merit and recognition for baristas and businesses operating in specialty coffee.

MBC will run over five days and consists of seven assessments designed around four core values — Quality, Efficiency, Hospitality, and Innovation.

The seven assessments will push even the most experienced baristas in these key areas.

  1. Fundamentals

  2. Latte Art

  3. Filter Coffeee

  4. Solo Service

  5. Group Service

  6. Palate

  7. Written Knowledge

To offer the most valuable feedback for participants of the course, the MBC team of assessors will include leaders operating at the top of our industry. This includes Ross Quail (Head Judge, World Barista Championships), Alicia Feng (Sensory Judge, World Brewer’s Cup), and Victor Vu (Three-Time Australian Latte Art Champion).

The first iteration of this course will be running on May 4-8, 2026 and we are fortunate to have the current Australian Barista Champion participating — Gabrel Tan. He is not just one of the best baristas in Australia, but also the Brand Ambassador for Veneziano Coffee Roasters.
